Springbrook Farm, South Woodstock, Vermont

What inspired me to paint this landscape were the dreary clouds of an impending storm and strong light at the end of the road. I was going to call it “Before the Storm.” When my wife, Opal, hung and lit this painting in the gallery, she put the light on the left side of the painting which makes it read completely the opposite: “After the Storm.”

Description

This is perhaps the most dramatic example of painting I have done that shows how the placement of light on a painting can change the reading of it. So, I called it just “Storm Light”.
